Mindful Self-Compassion

The Mindful Self-Compassion Course (MSC) is an empirically-supported training program developed out of groundbreaking research by Dr. Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Dr. Christopher Germer.

Course Details​

 

Weekly classes consist of instructional talks, experiential exercises, guided meditation practice, inquiry, and group discussion, which are designed to cultivate self-compassion in daily life. Home practices are offered each week to help you deepen your practice between classes.

 

By the end of our time together, you will have a toolbox of inner resources to help you build resilience in the face of life's many challenges and treat yourself with kindness when you need it most.​

  • What self-compassion is and isn't

  • Tender and fierce self-compassion

  • Practicing mindfulness

  • Practicing loving-kindness for self and others

  • Physiology of self-compassion and self-criticism

  • Developing a compassionate inner dialogue

  • Giving and receiving compassion

  • Compassionate listening

  • Working with difficult emotions, including shame

  • Managing challenging relationships

  • Managing caregiver fatigue

  • Balanced caregiving and self-care

  • Cultivating gratitude and self-appreciation

Preparation + Commitment​

This program is designed for members of the general public, based on the values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. All are welcome!

​

No previous meditation or mindfulness practice is necessary.

​​

To get the most out of the experience we ask that you commit to a minimum of 6 weekly classes​ and 30 minutes a day of home practice (if possible) between classes.

​​

We meet online every Sunday for ten weeks. Most classes run from 4-6.30pm (pacific time) with the exception of Class 1 and 7.

- Class 1: February 16, 4-5.30

- Class 2: February 23, 4-6.30

- Class 3: March 2, 4-6.30

- Class 4: March 9, 4-6.30

- Class 5: March 16, 4-6.30

- Class 6: March 23, 4-6.30

- Half-Day Retreat: March 30, 2-6.00

- Class 8: April 6, 4-6.30

- Class 9: April 13, 4-6.30

- Class 10: April 20, 4-6.30
